Singles Holidays to Calis Beach, Turkey
With its magnificent two mile stretch of sand and shingle beach and an easy-going, laid back atmosphere, Calis (pronounced ‘chalish’) Beach is a great place to unwind, watch the world go by and enjoy Turkish hospitality at its very best. The beach itself is set in a wide bay which is protected by several small offshore islands. Water taxis operate a regular shuttle service to and from Fethiye, the nearest town of any size, which is just across the bay or about three miles around the bay by road. An inexpensive dolmus service runs between Calis and Fethiye every 20 minutes or so and you can also get to Olu Deniz which is only 20 minutes the other side of Fethiye. In Fethiye, there’s a bustling weekly market, a fascinating museum and a choice of venues for night-owls. In Calis itself there’s a good selection of shops, bars (some very lively at night) and restaurants lining the pedestrianised sea front and, if you like stunning sunsets and cooling breezes (perfect for those hot summer evenings) then a welcoming, beach-front bar for a pre-dinner drink and views across the bay is the place to be.
Hotel Rebin Beach ***
The small, family-run, Rebin Beach offers guests simple but very comfortable accommodation, friendly, attentive service and is attractively laid out around the large swimming pool, sunbathing area and extensive garden. All the hotel’s air-conditioned bedrooms (£4 per day air-con supplement payable locally if used) have private sh/wc & hairdryer, telephone, safety deposit box (payable locally) and either balcony or terrace. There’s also a lounge with satellite TV and a snack bar. It’s a 15 minute stroll to the beach along the adjacent road which runs into Calis, whilst the resort’s bars, restaurants, dolmus stop and general amenities are all a short stroll away. Meals are taken in the hotel’s light, airy restaurant whilst the pool bar is the meeting place, especially in the evening, for a refreshing drink or three before settling down for a leisurely dinner and the chance to swap traveller’s tales with fellow guests. As with most family run hotels in Turkey, it’s all very informal, very friendly and a great place to chill out, relax and enjoy genuine Turkish hospitality.
