Singles Holidays to Cuba
To visit Cuba is to visit a different world and even the most seasoned traveller is likely to express amazement at the many faces of Cuba on this gorgeous but maddeningly incongruous island. The ‘Fifties’ face is probably the most famous - huge Chevrolets cruising the streets of Havana for example - but that is not to say that everything in Cuba is at least 50 years old. It’s not, and some of the hotels, especially in beach resorts like Varadero, are absolutely excellent. But, to visit the ‘real’ Cuba, be it Havana, Trinidad or Santiago de Cuba, is to slip into a time warp, with 1950s cars, an incredibly laid-back attitude to life (mañana? maybe…) and, everywhere, the sound of old-fashioned music, be it salsa, big bands or Latin love songs. We’ve combined Havana with Varadero for a memorable 2 week holiday and the contrasts couldn’t be more marked. In Havana you’ll experience Cuban life at its most vibrant and have the opportunity to explore Old Havana, the historic heart of the city which dates back to colonial times. You’ll also enjoy Havana’s bustling nightlife, its splendid architecture and unique atmosphere. In Varadero, you’ll be staying on one of Cuba’s finest beaches and have the chance to explore the island on one of the excellent optional excursions. Cuba is very, very different and now is the perfect time to visit before its distinctive character changes for ever.
Hotel Melia La Habana *****
Havana 4 nights (half board)
The excellent Melia La Habana, situated in Havana’s attractive Miramar district, is an established hotel with a reputation for high standards of service and very comfortable accommodation. It’s only 15 minutes or so from the city’s historic Old Quarter (courtesy shuttle provided by the hotel) and is just a stroll from the sea front. The hotel’s many facilities include 4 restaurants (all half board meals are taken in the Miramar restaurant). 3 bars, 2 swimming pools, tennis & squash court, beauty parlour, coffee shop, garden, health club and gym. All the Melia La Habana’s spacious, air conditioned rooms (doubles or twins for sole use) have satellite TV, safety deposit box, mini-fridge, tea/coffee-maker, bath/sh/wc (with hairdryer) and balcony or terrace. Most rooms have sea view.

Hotel Melia Las Antillas ****
Varadero 9 nights
Located on one of Cuba’s finest beaches, set in attractive gardens and just 10 minutes (by cheap taxi) to the centre of Varadero, the Melia Las Antillas is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy the many excellent facilities of this premier hotel. There are 4 restaurants, 4 bars, a coffee shop, tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, a pool bar and a beach bar, evening entertainment, a beauty parlour and a hairdresser & barber shop. The bedrooms, all junior suites for sole use, have a bath/sh/wc (with hairdryer), satellite TV, tea/coffee-maker, safe, mini-fridge and balcony or terrace. Rooms have either garden or sea view.
