Majorca, Portals Nous

Without a shadow of a doubt, Majorca is one of tourism’s miracles. That, despite being one of the world’s most popular destinations, it is still one of the most beautiful, unspoilt, underrated islands you are ever likely to visit. Away from the Bay of Palma, spectacular in itself but very busy, you enter another world. A world of majestic mountains to the north and west, including beautiful Formentor, lovely beaches in the south and east, idyllic country hamlets dotted all over the island and pretty little fishing villages like Port d’Andratx and Port de Soller. And then there’s Palma, with its magnificent cathedral and Moorish palace, its delightful, pedestrianised shopping quarter, its attractive yacht marina and harbourfront and centuries of fascinating history, culture and art. Add to all this a sophisticated night scene and superb cuisine and you have, in our view, the perfect destination. It really is a great island to explore as everything is within easy reach and public transport is excellent (try the train ride from Palma to Soller – fabulous scenery and a memorable day out). It’s also worth hiring a car for a day or two – the roads are very good and well signposted and the whole island can be ‘discovered’ in just a few days.

Hotel Costa Portals ★★★

Picturesque Portals Nous is one of Majorca’s less known resorts even though it’s within easy reach of Palma and the lovely hills and mountains behind the resort. The area is full of pine trees and shrubs which give the resort a peaceful, natural ambience and, combined with its summer villas and a wide selection of shops, bars and restaurants, approximately 1km from our hotel, it all adds up to a great holiday location.
There’s a regular bus service to the centre of Palma which takes around 25 minutes and the bus stop is only 200m from our hotel, the Costa Portals. This comfortable, spacious, adultsonly hotel is just 200m from the small beach and less than 10 kms from Palma. It’s set in attractive gardens and enjoys lovely views from its panoramic terraces. It also boasts a swimming pool, sunbeds and umbrellas and is airconditioned throughout.
There’s a restaurant and the Sky bar, free wi-fi in all rooms and public areas whilst all the air-conditioned bedrooms have a private sh/wc, satellite TV, a safe (payable locally) & telephone. In an excellent location and within easy reach of the island’s capital, Palma, the Costa Portals is a great venue for your holiday on this beautiful island.
