| If ever there was a beautiful,
picture-postcard place waiting to be photographed, then Olu
Deniz is it. It is indescribably photogenic and, dare we say
it, the reality is every bit as good as the hype. The beach,
with its array of watersports from waterskiing to paragliding,
is a long, crescent-shaped mix of sand and shingle and is a
sunworshipper’s paradise. It’s bordered by an incredible
azure sea and overlooked by pineclad hills and majestic, mountain
forests. The lagoon area, at the far end of the beach, is part
of a national park and conservation area so most holiday accommodation
is located behind and above the beach. There’s a good selection
of bars and eating places, a choice of mini-markets and shops
and a few night spots. Some 25 minutes’ drive away is the
bustling port and market town of Fethiye with its excellent
shopping, museum and seafood restaurants. And just a short taxi
or dolmus ride away, in the hills just above Olu Deniz, is Hisaronu
with its lively bars and great nightlife.With all this at your
fingertips, it’s not difficult to see why Olu Deniz is
one of Turkey’s most popular destinations. |
| The small, family-run Mavi
Belce (pronounced “mahvee belljay”) offers genuine
Turkish hospitality and a great location close to the resort’s
magnificent beach.Umit and his family,who own and run the hotel,
offer all guests a warmand friendly welcome and go out of their
way tomake your holiday amemorable one.The hotel itself is divided
into 4 separate parts which are located around the hotel’s
large swimming pool and sunbathing area (with sunbeds and parasols).
All 46 newly refurbished bedrooms are air-conditioned (£3
per day supplement payable locally if used) and have a balcony
or terrace, TV, telephone and a private sh/wc with hairdryer.There’s
also a poolside bar, an open air dining area where breakfast
and dinner are taken, a small garden and, of course, a reception
area where safety deposit boxes are available. It’s all
