Hurghada, Egypt
|
 |
| Boasting more than 5,000
years of history, culture and art, and with a climate that all
but guarantees year-round sunshine, few countries in the world
can match Egypts claim to be one of the worlds great
travel destinations. Even fewer are able to conjur images the
way Egypt does. The Pyramids, the Great Sphinx, the Nile, Tutankhamun
and the Pharaohs, the Red Sea its an impressive
list but the really impressive thing is that its all just
a 5 hour flight away. Hurghada is the Red Sea resort weve
chosen for a week or two of sun-worshipping, swimming in crystal
clear, brilliantly blue waters, enjoying the shops, bazaars
and night-life and, of course, taking advantage of the excellent
sightseeing and excursion possibilities. The resort is new-ish
(with an old quarter, Saqala, close to the harbour area) and
stretches along several kilometres of coastline. Hugging the
coast is an impressive mountain range beyond which is the eastern
desert which separates the Red Sea coast from the magnificent
River Nile. Here, on the Nile at Luxor, you will find the Valley
of the Kings, the Karnak Temples and an array of river vessels
from ancient feluccas to imposing Nile cruisers. |
| Located on its own small
private beach with sunbeds, umbrellas and a bar - and
commanding wonderful sea views, the Safir is an elegant hotel
which offers guests a range of excellent facilities. The resort
centre is a 20 minute stroll away or you can use the cheap public
minibuses which run regularly from near the hotel and take just
a few minutes. The Safir forms a horse-shoe shape around the
large, attractive swimming pool alongside which are palm trees,
pretty shrubs and plants. All the hotels rooms are air-conditioned
with private balcony & sea view, satellite TV, telephone,
minibar and bathroom with sh/wc. Breakfast and dinner are taken
in the main restaurant overlooking the pool whilst cooling drinks
are served at both the pool bar and in the Rendezvous Bar where
occasional folklore shows and live music can also be enjoyed.
The Safir also offers complimentary safety deposit boxes, 24
hour room service, internet access and a laundry service. Its
a friendly hotel and the staff go out of their way to make you
feel relaxed and comfortable in lovely surroundings. Highly
recommended. |
