| Santorini is spectacular
in every sense and is everyone’s idea of the quintessential
Greek island. It is visually stunning, and the clifftop, brilliant
white towns of Fira, the capital, and Oia defy description in
both their beauty and their fantastic location. Both are perched
one thousand feet above the sea and the ‘caldera’,
the fabled Lost City of Atlantis, and both enjoy the most incredible
sea views and Santorini’s world famous sunsets. Like everything
else about the island, Santorini’s beaches are extraordinary
in that they are, in the main, long, clean stretches of black
or red volcanic sand and shingle shelving quickly into deep,
dark blue, crystal clear waters. The most famous is Kamari,
where you’ll find our hotel, but there are others, too,
which are well worth a visit including Perissa and Vlichada.
Although smaller than many other Greek islands - much of the
interior is a pretty patchwork of unspoilt villages, olive groves
and vineyards - Santorini offers a surprising variety of things
to do and see. It’s a beautiful island and we’re delighted
to feature it in our 2008 programme. |
| Enjoying a great location
close to Kamari’s long beach (clean, black volcanic sand
and shingle), the Roussos Beach is a delightful, friendly hotel
with excellent facilities and a reputation for consistently
high levels of service. It’s adjacent to the promenade
which runs almost the length of the beach and is just a short
stroll to Kamari’s wide selection of shops, bars, restaurants
and nightspots. There’s a water-taxi service which will
take you from Kamari to nearby Perissa and there are regular
local buses into the capital, Thira. All the Roussos Beach’s
airconditioned bedrooms are well appointed and have a bath/sh/wc
(with hairdryer), satellite TV, fridge, radio, telephone, safe
and a balcony or terrace. There’s a swimming pool with
sun terrace, a TV lounge, a bar and a pool snack bar. Breakfast
is taken in the hotel whilst the evening meal venue is the popular
‘Atmosphere’ restaurant, a 5 minute stroll away and
known locally for its friendly service and first rate cuisine.
Unique, relaxed, quintessentially Greek and picture postcard
pretty, Santorini is, we think, the perfect Greek island destination. |
