Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus

With its stunning interior dominated by the 'Five Finger' mountain range and with a string of picture
postcard, unspoilt villages and beaches dotted along its picturesque coast, northern Cyprus is, without
doubt, a delightful destination just waiting to be discovered. Picturesque Kyrenia, with its bustling
harbour and narrow, winding streets, is full of atmosphere and local life whilst either side of the town
(the nearest being approximately 20 minutes away by dolmus) you will find lovely beaches and rocky
coves lapped by the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. It's very easy to get around as car hire is
inexpensive and there's also an excellent dolmus (public minibus) service. There's a sense of history and
culture everywhere you look with ancient settlements, churches and castles to explore whilst in
Famagusta, a beautiful, walled city on the east coast, there's a wealth of history and a pedestrianised
shopping area. An absolute must is a visit to the ruins of the ancient city of Salamis, beautifully
preserved and with the most important archaeological site in the whole of Cyprus. It's stunningly
beautiful, amazingly friendly, easy on the pocket and highly recommended.

The Nostalgia is an absolutely delightful hotel, located just a three minute stroll from
Kyrenia's attractive harbourfront and enjoying the sights and sounds of village life
at its best. All the facilities and amenities of a modern resort are close to hand -
shops, cafes, bars and restaurants - but, being situated in the old quarter, you'd be
forgiven for thinking you're in a different world once you're in the hotel. The Nostalgia
comprises two small buildings divided by a quaint narrow street in the part of Kyrenia
which dates back to Ottoman times. The hotel itself is a restored, traditional stone-walled
Cypriot house with well-appointed, air-conditioned bedrooms, all with private shower &
wc, telephone and TV (Travel One guests will be staying in the hotel's comfortable
"Heritage" rooms). There's a lovely feel of olde worlde nostalgia all around the hotel whilst
the restaurant is known locally for its excellent cuisine and friendly, efficient service. There's
a welcoming pool for a relaxing dip and, of course, there are sunbeds and parasols for
guests' use. As we say, a delightful hotel!.
