La Herradura, Spain
La Herradura is set on a relatively undiscovered part of Spain’s southern coast, in the province of Granada in the region of Andalucia. Together with it neighbouring town, Almunecar, La Herradura is known as the Costa Tropical, and forms a beautiful bay stretching for two kilometres along the coast. It is sheltered by a natural promontory to either side and backed by the dramatic Sierra Nevada mountains. The seafront promenade stretches right along the bay – perfect for an evening stroll. The village of La Herradura is a typical Andalusian village, with charming whitewashed houses sloping gently down to the beach. You will find plenty of shops here, and a good choice of bars and restaurants. It’s also an excellent spot from which to explore the Moorish heritage of Granada with its atmospheric Arab Quarter and stunning Alhambra Palace.
