Singles Holidays to the Algarve, Portugal
Superb Atlantic beaches, genuine hospitality and a wonderful climate all help to make the Algarve one of the most popular destinations in the Travel One programme. The 100 mile long coastline is a mix of established and modern resorts, fishing villages, ocean-side golf courses and mile after mile of golden beaches washed twice daily by the ever obliging Atlantic. There’s plenty to see and do on the coast but should you venture just a few miles inland you’ll find unspoilt towns and villages full of character and traditional charm - Silves, for example, the old Moorish capital, with its splendid castle, and Loule with its bustling market. To the east lies Spain with Seville, one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, about 2½ hours away, whilst to the north lies Lisbon, Portugal’s attractive capital city and well worth a visit. For sports enthusiasts there’s an abundance of golf courses and tennis courts on the Algarve and let’s not forget Portuguese cuisine, especially the excellent seafood including prawns, clams, lobster, all kinds of fresh fish and the famous grilled sardines.
Hotel Baia Cristal ****
Carvoeiro is an attractive, white-washed village which still retains its old fishing village charm whilst offering a good selection of shops, bars, cafés, restaurants and some lowkey nightlife. Travel One guests will be staying at the Baia Cristal, a friendly, very comfortable 4 star hotel located just 1.5 kms from the centre of Carvoeiro (the hotel operates a complimentary shuttle) and only 400m from the beach (via some steps). The Baia Cristal has a lovely spacious feel about it and its excellent facilities include a swimming pool (with fabulous Atlantic views), an indoor pool, health club & spa, complimentary sunbeds and parasols, sun terrace, restaurant, small lounge, games room, small gym, tennis court, bar and a pool bar. There’s also regular evening entertainment. Bedrooms, all twins or doubles for sole occupancy, are very comfortably furnished and have satellite TV, air-conditioning, safe (payable locally), bath/ sh/wc with hairdryer, and a balcony or terrace. Sea view rooms are also available(see page 33). It’s very relaxed and in a wonderful location to enjoy the Algarve at its very best. |
